Avert Your Eyes

Is this what fashion has come to? A replay of the 80s and early 90s? Seriously?!

I mean, Katie Holmes has access to stylists and money -- but she's dressing like this? Acid washed jeans with pre-fab holes and tight-rolled!? Jesus. If Hollywood is embracing this style, there is no hope. I have already seen the god awful plaid shirts at Target. What else will they be rolling out to the masses? The 80s and early 90s were the worst fashions for women, IMHO - especially if you aren't model-thin. I guess I should have saved my doc martins - my mom always said that they better last me for the rest of my life since I paid so much for them. Guess she was right.

So I like to think I can keep up with the times...but not lately. There are times when I start out hating something (ie kitten heels, pointed toe shoes) and then I give in and love them like the massed. BUT FEEL FREE TO SLAP ME IF I BUY ACID WASH AND TIGHT ROLL THEM. I don't see myself in the "new" plaid trend either...but sometimes, SOMETIMES, I think it's cute. Miley pulls it off.

Late 80s/early 90s = bad. Absolutely. I will NEVER wear acid-washed anything again, and I will NEVER tightroll my damn jeans. But mid-90s = AWESOME. I never really outgrew my My So-Called Life phase, so I am incredibly excited about the return of flannel shirts.

I wonder if hypercolor and aquanet bangs will be back too! I firmly believe that if you wore a trend the first time, you shouldn't wear it the second time.

I agree. It's cute on people like Miley because she didn't really live the 80s and 90s like we already have. To me, putting those type of clothes back on just seems aging. Been there, done that.

And tight-rolling...god, that was awful when I was kid. It just makes me wince to think that people will start doing that again.
